Letter from J.A.C.C.

A chairde

Welcome to 2012 and I hope you all had a very good Christmas. I just want to keep you all updated on the work that the JACC has carried out so far and some of our projects for the Johnstown athlumney Community in 2012.

Firstly we have been working with the Cois Glaisin residents to help get their estate finished as the builder left them with no roads, street lights and a whole heap of other problems that must be addressed.

We have also been working with the Priory residents in regards to a boundary wall and anti social behaviour. I am also putting out a call on behalf of priory for a welder. One of the fences at the front of the estate has been vandalised and is now being used as a gate to gain access to their estate. I know both Priory and the JACC would appreciate anyone who could help with welding the fence panel back.

We are working with Athlumney abbey and Athlumney Castle regarding street lighting at the walk through between the two estates. I have been told that this project is going ahead and should be starting in March. The JACC will keep in contact with local council to ensure that these works will go ahead.

We have been in contact with local businesses in regard to our Newsletter. We have secured some sponsorship and we hope to have it printed and delivered in early February. With that in mind I am asking each Resident association to forward onto me a small article about their estate. 100 words only and it can be about any thing relating to your area. We the Community Council want you the residents of Johnstown Athlumney to take ownership of this Newsletter. It also lets the other Resident Associations know what is happening in our community.

We are currently setting up our new Website. It will be launched in a few weeks time and we are also looking for articles from each Resident Association to put up on the Website. Pictures of your members/activities/projects etc are very welcome. This is your Website and we want to put Johnstown Athlumney on the map.

The Sports Clinic Week will be on again this year. It will be our third year to run this event and is getting bigger and better every year. The preliminary dates are 25th/27th April. Remember it is free of charge for all children wanting to take part. The three events will be Rounders/Soccor/Rugby.

We are organising a trip to Leinster House for anybody who wishes to go and Deputy Peadar Toibin will be greeting us and giving us the grand tour. Can you forward to your residents as their is great interest in this trip and we need numbers in order to organise buses to take us there and home again afterwards. Please forward all who are interested to my email. This trip will be organised for the evening so if you are in work during the day, you can still go

Will keep you all updated

Regards
Antoinette Faye ( Chairperson of JACC )
