Message from Crime Prevention Officer

Think of ways to have a safe Halloween.

Remove bangers/reworks from your child if you discover them in their possession. Check with your local authority for family-friendly Halloween events and licensed reworks displays taking place in your area.

Educate your child to have respect for older, vulnerable people in the community.

Always be mindful of where your child is during Halloween, where they are going and what time they will be back.

Take responsibility. Ensure that your child does not cause injury to either  themselves or others.

Yesterday morning at approx 10.20am two men knocked on an elderly persons house in the Poplars, Ratoath looking to do odd jobs. The elderly owner got distracted by one of the men talking while the second is suspected to have taken a small sum of cash from the house. The elderly person was not injured during the distraction theft. Talk to any elderly person in the area and make them aware of bogus callers and if you need any bogus caller cards let me know and I will post them out to you.
